"I have painted to exhibit a lively balance between spontaneity and willfulness, between intuition and inspired calculation, in response to my concern regarding the environment, —all in an effort to transmute the tensions of these times," says Lesniak.
"Make no mistake, this artwork is totally about the evolution of paint, not representation," writes Ron Schira, art critic for the Reading Eagle. He continues, "Her works have an intuitive and unintentional character to them that varies from piece to piece and touches on different areas of 20th century abstract art."
In 2008, Lesniak curated The River: Separate yet part of the whole, at the Hill School in Pottstown. The exhibit showcased a diverse group of artists working in varied media to express what "river" meant to them from an environmental perspective.
Watermelon Farm is an homage to the artist's father, who for most of his life was steward of a farm by that name in Lancaster County. Inheriting the farm served to heighten the artist's strong feelings about the way humans care for the land.
In this exhibit, the painting "Wetlands Treasure" was pictured in AMERICAN STYLE Magazine, October 2008. n"Fence Row" won Most Creative Response to the theme in THE FARM, a juried exhibit at Studio B in Boyertown, PA, earlier this year.
Lesniak has been studying and making art — in both stained glass and painting — for over 30 years. She has hundreds of works in public and private collections.
